Circuito de Jerez (Jerez Speed Track), formerly known as Circuito Permanente de Jerez, is a 4.428km (2.752-mile) racing circuit located in the city of Jerez de la Frontera, deep within the sherry-producing south of Spain. It was built by Alessandro Rocci, who was also in charge of Circuito Permanente del Jarama's project. Seven Grand Prix of Formula One have been held in the Circuito de Jerez since it was created in 1986, including the last one held on 26 October (European Grand Prix) where the Canadian driver Jacques Villeneuve and the German driver Michael Schumacher were fighting for the Drivers' World Championship, that finally went to Villeneuve's hands.
