2010

Turns around slow start in ultra-quick RB6 with victories in Spain, Monaco, Britain and Hungary to move ahead of team mate Vettel and lead standings going into summer break. Loses out in four-way title showdown at season finale thanks to poor pit strategy, finishing third overall.

2009

Pre-season preparation hampered by broken leg sustained in winter cycling accident, but form continually improves, culminating in maiden pole and victory in Germany. Retirements in Italy and Singapore end his title hopes, but he takes a triumphant second win in Brazil.

2008

Lack of Red Bull race pace means points rather than podiums become the target and scores 21 to finish 11th overall. Qualifying form excellent as usual and secures the team's first-ever front-row grid slot (at Silverstone). Retained for 2009.

2007

Poor reliability makes for a largely frustrating first season at Red Bull, with regular top-ten qualifying performances rarely translating to points. Highlight is a third place at the Nurburgring. Finishes 12th overall on 10 points.

2006

Endures tough second season with Williams. After retiring from more races than he finishes, scores just seven points. Signs to Red Bull for 2007.

2005

Lack of Williams competitiveness blunts debut season with British team. Shines in qualifying with seven top-five grid slots, but race performances less consistent, a third in Monaco his sole podium appearance.

2004

Difficult final season with Jaguar. Scores seven of the team's ten points. Highlight a second on the grid in Malaysia. Signs for Williams for 2005.

2003

Cements his reputation as one of the sport's rising stars. Takes third on the grid in Brazil and Hungary and scores all bar one of Jaguar's 18 points. Tenth in the drivers' championship.

2002

Debut with Minardi. Dream start as he scores fifth place in his first ever race. Puts in impressive performances through the rest of the season.

2001

Second overall in the FIA International Formula 3000 championship having taken three wins. Becomes a Benetton Formula One test driver.

2000

Third in the FIA International Formula 3000 championship with the Eurobet Arrows team.

1999

Races at Le Mans with Mercedes AMG. The team is withdrawn from the event after aerodynamic problems are discovered.

1998

Partners Bernd Schneider in the FIA GT Championship, runner-up with five wins.

1996

Runner-up in the British Formula Ford championship.
